We want this site to work for everybody, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard only, voice control, or a large text size. That is not an afterthought here — a lot of our customers are older, and plenty read this site outdoors on a phone in bright sunlight.
Our commitment
This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Where we fall short we would rather know about it and fix it than leave it.
What we have done
- Body text is set at 18px and never below 17px, and the whole site scales cleanly when you zoom to 200%.
- Every text and interface colour pair has been measured against its own background, not eyeballed.
- Everything you can do with a mouse can be done with a keyboard, and the focus outline is always visible.
- There is a skip link to the main content as the first thing you reach with Tab.
- Proper landmarks and heading structure throughout, so a screen reader can navigate by section.
- Every photograph has alt text describing what is actually in it.
- Touch targets are at least 44×44 pixels.
- Animation is minimal, and all of it is switched off if your device asks for reduced motion.
- The quote form has real labels, and errors are announced rather than only shown in colour.
- Links inside body copy are underlined, not just coloured.
Known limitations
- The map on the contact page is a Google Maps embed. We do not control its markup or keyboard behaviour. All the same information — the towns we cover — is available as plain text on the areas we cover page, so nothing is only in the map.
- The spam check on the quote form is Cloudflare Turnstile, a third-party widget. It is designed to be accessible and usually needs no interaction at all, but it is not our code. If it ever blocks you, please ring us instead — 07956 767320 — and we will take the details over the phone.
- Some job photographs were taken on a phone and are not perfectly level. That is a photo-quality issue rather than an accessibility one, but it is honest to mention it.
Tell us about a problem
If something on this site is hard or impossible for you to use, please tell us. Email Email us or ring 07956 767320. Say which page it was and what happened, and we will fix it or find another way to get you what you needed.
You never have to use this website to get a quote from us. A phone call works just as well, and always will.
The legal bit
Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers must make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not put at a substantial disadvantage. We treat this website as part of that duty.
